Nashoba Ama – Purity

Staying on her knees when approaching the foal again, as she began running her hands over the foal’s sweet face, putting her forehead against it, she sensed Canyon’s return, could see in the corner of her eye Doyenne’s long golden feathers perched on the hay stack next to him on Kamara’s right side, Tundra and Shima on her left, Maccan and Tala behind her, all forming a half circle around Ama and bowing their heads down as if in concentration or praying, they all knew what she wanted to attempt before she spoke the words.  Her human family giving them space, all curious as to what Kamara would do next, knowing her legend.  Not moving from her position when her wolves and Doyenne  arrived, Kamara closed her eyes and tried to seek life still within, the name Purity popped into her thoughts, such an innocent and pure soul that should have been.  With tears in her eyes, without glancing, she silently asks Canyon if she has enough power to resuscitate her, has the two hours since the birth been too long?  He responded that it has never been done successfully before, sending her images of previous attempts by former Nashoba Ama’s where the animal either had brain defects or was reborn with an evil heart, either way it resulted in euthanasia.  Well, she has to try regardless, if it didn’t ideally transpire, at least she would know and not wonder for the rest of her life, what if.  Checking the brain first which seemed to be intact, she could see the damage the poison did to the heart and liver, she worked her healing magic for every impaired organ, felt a boost of power from her circle, like it was a family effort, then noticed blood starting to flow slowly with a faint heartbeat.  She had Rocky move the foal next to Luna’s belly, she needed her mama, Luna immediately started to mother her, but only for a couple of minutes and then laid back down.
