Love You

I Love You

I greatly long

To hear that phrase

—–

Three little words

That mean so much

Most take it for granted

—–

Been over a decade

Since I have heard them

From someone I truly loved

—–

Even when said

Can’t believe

They are referring to me

—–

Have expressed my love

To a select few

But when not returned

Cuts like a knife

In my heart

—–

Don’t they know

How lovable I am

With so much

Love to give

—–

Perhaps they don’t deserve

Such a precious gift

It’s their loss

—–

Doubt I will ever

Hear them again

Part of me

Has given up

On love

—–

But hope so much

That I am wrong

Will love find a way

To this lonely heart

—–

Only from that

Special someone

That rocks my world

—–

Only fitting that I share this poem I wrote a few years ago that is in my poetry book Stanza Stem on dreadful Valentine’s Day. If you actually have a strong mutual love then consider yourself lucky, for those who do not doesn’t make them unlovable, just more complex & special. As for me, I yet to have found my special someone who rocks my world & is always near.
